After putting in 20 hours, I finally wrapped up this family portrait. It was by far the most challenging painting I’ve worked on, but I think it really captures their family—especially the memory of their late fathers. It was an honor to create a piece that holds such deep personal significance 🩷

As a live painter, I was honored to be part of this special plan. I tried my best to capture every subtle emotion, using colors and lines to convey the deep affection and eternal love their families have for the couple. On the wedding reception day, when the painting was unveiled, Caven saw the familiar and warm faces and was deeply moved. This painting became the most precious gift of the wedding, not only adding a delightful surprise for the couple but also allowing absent loved ones to participate in this celebration in a different way 🩷

I love the simplicity of this painting, centered on the couple and the character 囍. It gently reflects the spirit of a tea ceremony that unites both families—truly a testament to the idea that less is more.

The word 喜喜 (xǐ xǐ) translates to “double happiness” in English. It consists of two instances of the character 喜, which means “joy” or “happiness.” This term is often associated with marriage and celebrations in Chinese culture, symbolizing the union of two people and their families. The combined character ❤️囍❤️ (pronounced shuāngxǐ) is a popular decorative motif at weddings, representing good fortune and joy in marital life. It is commonly displayed on invitations, decorations, and gifts during wedding ceremonies.

The Chinese tea ceremony, known as ‘jing cha’, is a traditional ritual during weddings, symbolizing respect and gratitude towards family. Originating in the Tang Dynasty, it involves the couple serving tea to their parents and elders, marking the union of two families. Typically held on the wedding day, this intimate ceremony allows the couple to express appreciation for their families’ support. Participants often receive red envelopes with gifts, reinforcing familial bonds and blessings for a harmonious marriage. This ceremony remains a cherished practice, blending cultural heritage with modern celebrations.

Two years ago, I took the leap and quit my 9-to-6 to become a full-time freelance artist, with my pup as my only coworker 🐶 (He’s main job is to calm my nerves basically🥰)

It’s not as easy as it seems—between juggling family responsibilities and the constant hustle of running a small business, things can get pretty hectic. The hours are crazy, deadlines loom, and being a mom adds another layer of challenge.
